Ice climbing meet in Argentiere la Bessee

Hello All!

This is to remind you or letting you know about this ice climbing meet we are organising in Argentiere la Bessee during the week of 16th January. The AC ice climbing meet has been going for the past 5 years. In 2010 we will run it for the first time with the GHM.

 

Accommodation will be in a gite with our evening meals provided - 30 euros per night. Small dorms 2 to 8 people.

 

Nearest airports are Grenoble or Turin. There is a bus from Grenoble to Argentiere la Bessee. From Turin, it is more complicated, involving a train and a bus. More practical would be for participants to share rental cars. A number of us will already be based in the Alps and therefore can help with some airport pick ups and local transport. As soon as you let us know you are interested, we will put you in touch with some you might want to share transport with.

 

We have had very good contact with the local community. They are going to keep the road to Fournel free of snow specially for us so that we can drive to the climbing site (avoiding one hour and a half of walking!). We can also have at our free disposal some projection equipment should some of you wish to entertain us with a slide show. The local expert guide Gerard Pailheret will also be there to give us beta on climbs and conditions. Even the local rescue has been forwarned!
